Where do you typically take pictures?
I have some great outdoor locations that I love to use. You get to help decide what type of setting you would like and then I will send you some location options from that. Whether you are wanting and urban, natural or rustic look we can find a location that is perfect for you! If you would like to see some of the spots where I typically do sessions, let me know and I can send you some images from those spots. These locations are local parks or downtown areas that have everything you need for a great photo session. I am also up for trying new spots if you feel like you have found a hidden gem! Any entrance or parking fees for locations are paid for by the client.
How long does it take to get my pictures back?
For portrait sessions it takes me 2-3 weeks to get them edited and back to you in your online gallery. For weddings the turnaround time is 6-8 weeks. I will do my best to give some sneak peeks along the way since I know most people are very excited and ready to see their images!
What days and times do you book portrait sessions?
For newborn sessions, I like to book them on weekday mornings when the whole family can be home. Typically they start at 10am.
For all other portrait sessions, the best lighting is either right after the sun has come up and the hour and a half before the sun goes down. Morning sessions can start between 8am and 9am. Afternoon sessions in the Winter start around 4pm, in Spring around 5:30pm, in Summer around 7pm and in Fall around 6pm. When you book your date I will know the sunset time and will tell you the best start time for your session.
I do not do sessions on Sundays or Mondays unless they are a bad weather reschedule. Newborns are done on Wednesday or Thursday mornings. All other portrait sessions are done on available weeknights and Saturdays.
Do you help with posing?
YES! I love helping my clients feel comfortable in front of the camera! I recognize that getting your picture taken can feel awkward and so we will chat and laugh and have a great time together and you will totally at ease in front of the camera!
What happens if the weather is bad?
If it looks like the weather is going to be bad with either rain or very cold temperatures then we will reschedule the session. Because Texas weather can be so fickle we typically have to wait until the day before or sometimes the day of to make that call. We do not need to reschedule for overcast skies. An overcast sky is usually great for pictures!
What should I wear for my photos?
Great question! Check out this blog post for the answer to that question.
How far in advance do I need to book my session?
In the fall, I can get booked up two to three months out so you can start your fall picture planning in July or August. For other seasons I get booked up 4-6 weeks out. Weddings can be booked up to 18 months in advance. For newborn sessions we will schedule them based on your due date so as soon as you would like to get a date on the calendar that would be great!
